Weekends usually offer a choice of camping, Youth Hostels and B & B accommodation and locations include popular walking areas such as Snowdonia, The Lake District and The Yorkshire Dales.

 

 

Friday 3 to Sunday 5 October – Lakes Weekend

8 miles / 8 hours / Well ‘ard

A weekend centred on Elterwater in the lovely Langdale Valley. Usual weekend arrangements – travel out on Friday meeting up for a meal / drinks in the evening. On Saturday there will be a full day mountain walk of around 8 miles before again meeting up in the evening for a meal / drinks. On Sunday there will be an easier walk before returning home in the afternoon.

Elterwater has a village shop for walk supplies and a pub. Nearby Chapel Stile (1/2 mile away) has a larger Co-op and a pub. Ambleside (4 miles) is the nearest town with full facilities.

There is limited (and expensive) accommodation in Elterwater:

·         Britannia Inn, 01539 437210, Eltermere Country House Hotel, 01539 437207

·         Choice of 2 youth hostels, Elterwater, on the edge of the village, and Langdale High Close, ¾ mile outside the village but with fantastic views from its verandah, both bookable on 0870 770 5908:

·         Camping – Baysbrown campsite at Chapel Stile ( terrorist training camp - as featured on BBC news)

·         Self Catering – lots of agencies have properties in Elterwater / Chapel Stile, the largest is Wheelwrights.
