Group History
The group was formed in December 2001 by several friends who wanted to 'do something different' from other established walking groups. Our first programme of walks and social events exceeded our expectations attracting several new people and having such an enjoyable atmosphere that we decided it was worth all the effort and published a second programme.
We are now firmly established as the only truly independent walking group in Staffordshire and the surrounding counties catering specifically for people in their 20’s, 30’s and 40's. We even have a fledgling branch in the Lake District!
The Spring 2002 Programme
Our spring programme saw the growth of the group and our first weekend away - an unbelievable weekend in the Lake District in late March where it managed to not rain for a whole five day period!
Our walks were well attended (and led - thanks to all of our volunteer leaders) and most finished off in a local hostelry to refresh ourselves. Jack Dee at the Victoria Hall was hilarious but not necessarily to everyone's taste. Our regular quiz team tried very hard but were pipped at the post and came away empty handed - better luck next time ladies.
The Summer 2002 Programme
In which we consolidated our group, had several fine walks and a rather damp weekend in Snowdonia.
Looking to the Future
Our current programme offers a wide range of activities with events once a fortnight interspersed with a variety of social activities including 10 pin bowling, quiz nights, dining out and day trips to see the sights.
